______ Very few of the permanent residents of the Market ever left the comfort of the floating bazaar, each for reasons of their own. Some just preferred the feeling of being closer to the Windsinger. Some had been born there, and the thought of touching the ground for the first time was daunting and terrifying. Some just didn't want to leave their storefronts unattended. Val could never understand the rest of the clan’s dedication to staying airborne. Nothing could compare to the feeling of the ground beneath her claws, or the rush of the wind through her feathers as she dashed off in search of new locations for the market to settle down.

______ Today in particular, they were somewhere particularly close to her heart. The dry sands of the shifting expanse crackled beneath her feet as she stride through the sparse desert. A gust of wind pushed more sand off the dunes, and she pulled her goggles over her eyes, scrunching up her nose in annoyance. She loved this place, but the weather was certainly not as wonderful as the windswept plateau. It seemed like ages before she finally found a suitable place to set up. Reaching into her pack, she procured a brightly colored flag and an intricate map. Planting the flag in the ground, she looked up triumphantly at her work. After all... wherever she planted the flag, the market would soon follow...
