"Sometimes, on cold nights, you can see him."

"Who can you see?"

"The angel. The one with the stained wings. He sits atop the highest branches of the highest trees."

"What does he do up there?"

"Sometimes he sings. Other times he stares at the stars, as if he's searching for some far away answer to a bothersome question."

"Why does he do that? What answer does he seek?"

"We, as mortals, will never know. But I like to think he grieves up there."

"For what?"

"For Heaven, for home, perhaps for us. But there is sorrow in that angel's songs, that I am sure of."

Most nights, he cannot sleep. Nightmares plague his tired mind, dragging him down somewhere he fears he cannot return from. Even among his loved ones, these kind and gentle and soft angels, Miazma can never rest. He lays against Sachoak's side, with Lucius wings spread over all of them, and yet he feels as though with every passing minute that they are in more and more danger.

Perhaps his past causes this. Perhaps the scars he hides beneath his mask itch and burn until he can't sit still. Maybe his own sins keep him awake at night.

Whatever it is, nightmare or guilt, it is not uncommon to see the weary angel wandering at night. Searching for something that has long since died.

• Was once an angel of healers, some monstrous horror befell him and his lover and his lover fell from the cloth of angels, turning into something dark and vile and evil.
• M swore that he would either redeem his lost lover....or kill them so they might not suffer this curse of a rotten life - thus becoming an angel of vengeance.
• M has searched high and low for their lover, but has not found any signs of them in the living realm.
• During his time away from Home and from his fellow brethren, M grew lonely and allowed himself to fall - if only briefly - into the arms of willing mortals, at least until he came upon a clan where other angels awaited him.
• Lucius's kindness, Malachi's forwardness and welcoming charm, and Sachoak's understanding and warm nature convinced him to stay.
• Unless speaking with another angel, a demon or god, M doesn't stray far from the trees of the nature spirit Abrastil's garden.
