Chai
"Healer of Mind and Soul"
Gentle | Nurturing | Selfless | Open-Minded

Weaver of Ancient Earthen Magic
Primary Clan Healer, Mediator, and Therapist

tumblr_inline_nro510lIz41r1twlu_500.gif

It may not seem like much at all. A small ache. A stinging cut of scrape. A bruise or a chipped claw. It isn't much; no one would ever complain. But crippling anxiety. Depression. Toxic thoughts of self-worth and despair. If it isn't obvious, it must not be that taxing. Not many healers would even consider these things to be illnesses worth investigation.

When the battles are over and distant, the wounds have healed and the bones have set, there is little help to seek for the deep, burning pain of regret, or remorse. When the illness has been cured, and the road to recovery is long and winding, what medicine would a dragon need for the feeling of helplessness, of self pity?

There is a healer among the Clan who sees right through the apparent strong visage of others and peers straight into their souls. Their forced laughter, their crooked smile, the way the muscles strain on the corners of their cheeks, it's all the signs her brown eyes catch in a glimpse. When the soul is crying out for a medicine very few can provide, this healer is one who will provide everything - and more - to bring your mind, body, and soul balance.

Chai, an older Pearlcatcher of the Clan, focuses on these issues as her life's work. Through a wonderful blend of harnessing pure, strong Earth magic and the talent of her own careful words and gentle actions, she helps these other dragons cope with the injuries of the mind and soul. Her work has earned her clan-wide renown for her skills and proven methods.

To her, the very essence of Earth is strength, resolve, and fortitude. By weaving these powerful energies into her patients, she instills upon them bravery and the vitality to endure their pain. Some healers in the clan, such as her friend Cordillera, use the powers of Earth to return the body to a natural state, healing bones and abrasions with no problem. While Chai has done this as well, she somehow always finds herself faced with an illness of the mind. It became her specialty.

She mediated with her friends and family, and eventually it grew to include strangers. So many dragons facing severe anxiety, depression, paranoia, sadness, even thoughts of never existing, all crossed ways with her. And as she learned new methods, as she embraced the uniqueness of every mind, her pearl grew and grew. It was through this open reception to dragons of every kind that she became the healer she is today

Her pearl, a combination of every memory, of every past dragon she had saved, of every illness and injury and negative thought she had helped drive away, is her strongest medicine. Just holding the weight of her pearl is grounding and comforting. To feel the countless struggles of others, their pain, and their progress, feeling their happiness as their struggles moved past them, is a comfort so hard to realize. Chai fully believes that there is never an ailment that has never occurred before, and uses her pearl to transmit this strength to others.

The very essence of Chai is to regain the strength to go on. Because sometimes, all you need is a hug, a little magic, and a big, solid boulder to lean on. The rest falls into place with time.

Chai is naturally very gentle. She is soft spoken, rarely one to ever raise her voice. Her words are light and airy, but still with the dense, thick strength of her natural Earth roots. Her mannerisms are straightforward and decisive, but rarely does she act suddenly, especially when working with a patient.

Nothing gives her more joy than the joys of her patients. To see her patients grow and progress, to soar over their previous boundaries, and become the dragons they always were deep inside, is the greatest joy of all. Children and mates do not concern her. Selfless to a fault, Chai will often find herself going hours and hours without eating or sleeping, occasionlly needing a friend to remind her to take a break.

Clan of the Wild Path
"Claws of Earth"

"The Earth, the first and eternal,
in its resolution and its fortitude,
we follow a path carved by our ancestors.
When the ground shudders and wind howls,
and the very world begins to collapse,
none shall remain but the strength of Earth."

"Ancient magic, long forgotten wisdom and truth,
they whisper, oh so lightly, beneath the ground.
Never has an ill nor harm gone without endurance,
for all things have passed. All things can be cured."

"Do you know how long Sornieth has existed? How many dragons have walked upon this ground, how many have passed, how many are yet to come? Every ailment, every sickness, every poor feeling, every blight, has already occurred.

There is nothing new in the world. Your ailments have already been felt by others. And here we are. The pain does not stay forever. All things pass in time. The millions of ancestors before us have taught us this. This, too, shall pass."

"You may leave whenever you wish. You may also stay as long as you like. Allow it to pass. Like sands in the wind, it will pass. You will be alright. I will endure this with you"
