Travel was the norm for the Harshikar Pack, and when Aarav was born during one of the pack’s many trips to The Scarred Wasteland, it became his norm too. His family was large, boisterous, and bright, though none brighter than his mother, Nashira, who was the heart and soul of the pack. He learned early on the power of a magnetic personality and an infectious laugh. His time with the Harshikar Pack was filled with song and dance, showy fights and even flashier magic.
The ragtag group gave Aarav a variety of inspirations for his future, but his personality tended towards the more reserved personality of his father, and he knew performing wasn’t going to be his future. Though that didn’t stop him from being front and center for any performance a pack member put on. Music especially would draw him out of his shell. He found his calling accidentally as a teen. Aarav was rather curious, and oftentimes would wander off on his own. He hadn’t meant to interrupt a hunt, but when he managed to help take the target down with relative ease after spooking it, he was encouraged to train as a hunter. As his training began, his older sister Chanda was preparing to leave. She was so much like their mother that Aarav had no doubt she would do well away from the pack, though her departure still made him sad. Her parting gift to him was a gorgeously crafted dagger, the first in his still growing collection of blades. When he came of age, Chanda returned to celebrate, and in a rare spontaneous decision, Aarav decided to leave with her. The [insert name here] Pack wasn’t as exuberant as the Harshikar Pack, though Chanda did her best to instill some of the vibrancy they grew up with. While she dedicated her time to finding more lost performers and creative types to join the pack, Aarav found himself fitting in well with the quieter, more restrained personalities of pack leader Selene’s inner circle. The pack was in a rebuilding period, and Selene and Condor were so impressed with Aarav’s hunting abilities that he was named lead hunter for the pack. Aarav was honored by the appointment, though he was still required to train under Condor. It was different from the training he underwent with the Harshikar Pack. Condor was quiet, focused, and blunt, saying only the most important things in the fewest words he needed to. He wasn’t that way with everyone, but Aarav found his training methods to work well. Aarav developed a great deal of respect and admiration for Condor, and has dedicated himself to honoring him and Chanda first and foremost. |
