Salem

Salem was born on the day of the eclipse in Sorneith. It was from that fact he was given the title- of the Eclipse. The eclipse was such a huge deal to all Shadow flight members because it was a reminder of their power over light. Obviously having a member of you clan born on that day was considered to bring the clan good luck for years to come. Salem was then adopted by clan Lusus Naturae in order to increase their luck as well as give Salem a good home.

Salem's new life in Lusus Naturae started out a bit rough, he didn't have any obvious abilities or talents and was very shy to most of the members. The only one he seemed to be okay with opening up to was Amaretat, one of the leaders of Lusus Naturae. Amaretat took care of the young skydancer and slowly got him to adjust and open up to other's within the clan. It took some time but Salem opened up and finally relaxed. Amaretat trained Salem to be a decent fighter and eventually Salem applied to join the warriors and mercenaries of Lusus Naturae. But, once again, Salem just didn't have the stuff to be one of them, the talent was lacking and the awkwardness was full throttle.

However, that didn't stop Salem, he tried many other professions, worked hard to try and get them, but in the end he was also turned away for his obvious lack of skill. Salem began to despair that he would never find something that calls out to him. Until he met a Skydancer girl, Elvera, a very talented necromancer who also takes care of hatchlings from recently hatched nests. Salem thought she was gorgeous, and amazing and everything he wasn't. Elvera didn't like that though, she wasn't interested in Salem who kept asking her out without even trying to get to know her. She eventually told Salem that they can be friends, nothing more and Salem was fine with that, in fact he was thrilled to have even made one friend.

Salem followed Elvera everywhere, the two were always together which bothered Elvera at first but she knew he needed help. Salem tried his best doing odd jobs around the clan's territory, and most just accepted it that he was always going to be this awkward dragon who was never really good at anything, so much for the luck of the eclipse. But Salem would take time out of his day to go watch Elvera practicing her necromancy. They would talk and laugh about how their days were going. Elvera was trying out this new spell that brought dead plants back to life and she just couldn't get it right. She would bring it back and it immediately died again. She was afraid what her teacher might say if they knew she couldn't bring back as simple as a plant. Salem was watching as Elvera was panicking, he got up from where he was sitting and attempted to calm her. He wanted her to do well and seeing Elvera like this upset him greatly. He decided making funny faces was the way to go to make her smile. But she wasn't paying attention and the effort was fruitless, so instead he decided to pretend to be her, acting like a high and mighty necromancer. She finally noticed and started chuckling at Salem's funny attempts to say spells. She repeated after him, correcting the obvious pronunciation errors. It was then when he jokingly recited the plant spell that something interesting happened. The dead plant began to turn back to a healthy green and flowers began blooming. Salem and Elvera were both shocked. Salem wrote it off as Elvera's magic taking time to work, but Elvera made Salem do the spell over and over again and each time it worked, getting stronger.

It was a happy day for Salem. He felt less useless and necromancers were some of the most revered in society. Elvera was extremely proud for her friend. The celebrated that night by drinking and eating to their hearts content. In the morning, they met up and Elvera introduced Salem to her teacher, Lazaro. Lazaro was impressed by Salem's raw talent and set him up with another necromancer named Ruru.

Ruru gave Salem no slack and trained him as hard as she could to make him a great necromancer, and it worked. Eventually Salem could out do his own teacher and officially Salem graduated with the title necromancer. Elvera was very proud to call him a friend since she knew how far he came. Elvera began to form a small crush on the once loser. She decided to take a chance and ask him out. Salem was happily surprised by the question, but gratefully accepted to go out on a date. Now the two lovebirds are happy joined together and both have their jobs that they enjoy, Elvera takes care of the hatchlings, and Salem is now a teacher.
