Eclipsa

She told me I was born from the ruins
Of the light and darkness of life
That I was created to be a friend
To chaos, carnage, and strife

She told me I was born to be a destroyer
That the night and day would yield to my feet
That I would sow the sky with terrors
No being would dare to dream

But light and dark mixed within me
Like paints of solemn black and pristine white
Creating a kind of melancholy
A grey that chose neither side

Yet my light was much too blinding
My darkness too concealed
My brightness devoured the very sun
And the moon found herself veiled

My magic was a monster
Or perhaps it was just me who was the same
As the destroyer that she spoke of
She who gave me my name.

But is it truly my fate to raze
The celestial beings that ruled the sky?
Was my darkness destined to take
The very light all were sustained by?

No, I decided, this future I refused take
This bloodied path I refuse to make
This fate of discord I will defy
For light, for darkness, I will fight.

As long as I stand, the light will dance
The sun and moon will rise
As long as I stand, there will be rebirth
Every time day and night die

She told me how and why I was born:
To see the light of life demised
But I believe, as sure as the sun rises
That my fate can be revised.
