Ember

Mate: Ashoun
The Great Furnace. The beating heart of the Ashfall Waste. Residence of the Lady of Heat, Flamecaller, blessed be her name. This was where Ember was raised, trained in the arts of metalworking to create great works of art. And, more importantly, it's where her love Ashoun snuck into to visit her. They spent many happy months together, murmuring in Coatl to each other.

But no paradise is ever perfect. One day he struck her brutally with fang and magic, something she deserved for mocking his taboo disinterest in shaping steel. And then... like smoke from dead cinders he vanished, leaving Ember's heart in pieces. Her clan noticed, and she couldn't take the pitying looks. So she struck out on her own, with little more to her name than a collection of metal and dried fish on her back.

By the grace of the gods, she met Ashoun by the Driftwood Drag in shadow territory. She tackled him and they tumbled over each other, babbling apologies with tears running down their eyes. And of course their little... display did not go unnoticed by two patrolling shadow dragons. Mercifully they were friendly; Ember did not want to imagine how terribly the guardian could've hurt her, especially if Xylona knew magic.

And... that was how she and her mate ended up in a tiny shadow clan.
Time passes slowly.

While Ashoun's happy to work with his art, Ember's going insane without any crafts to make. There's no furnace, no lava, not even a steam engine! She's going to have to make one from scratch. The only problem is, the clan's librarian is a fae, and coatl dragons can't understand the fae. Maybe she should learn some paw language.

But despite the dullness and the terror of having so many shadow dragons around, led by a powerful magic user, she likes it here. There's a certain calm to the pervading mist, a certain charm to the dark waters, especially when Ashoun joins her on the beach and they sit with their wings around each other, blepping their forked tongues at each other.

Maybe this dark and dull place could be a good home for them, and for their children.
Finally, she can get her paws working again!

With the clan's increased importance, they can trade for things not easily found in the Tangled Wood. Like, for instance, all the tools needed for metalworking. Nothing advanced, though; that stuff doesn't come cheap! But enough for her to slave away over the burning forge, creating basic tools. Eating utensils for their beastclan members, claw sheathes for their hunters. Small stuff like that.

With a little more treasure pumped into this, though...
