Fortune shone upon Orlest and his nest mates, a travelling sorceress gifting the trio with a blessing of her own making. For the only son she gifted a deep insightful mind - that he might discern the intentions and needs of others.


For much of his days as a hatchling, Orlest barely left the side of his mother Linglan, content to listen to her speak whether it was to him or his siblings. The coatl had seen so much, wandered so far - her stories a delight to the younglings that had only ever seen the wood and canvas of the airship.

Just by observing, the young dragon could tell that the other members of the clan respected and adored his mother, no malice present in the way each greeted her. Inspired by this, he felt determined to make a name for himself in the world, so that one day he to would be worthy of respect and admiration. The second of the three siblings to leave, he felt a pang at the pain in his older sister's eyes. But he could not stay, and knew in his heart that she too would find the courage to set forth.
