1012.png 		In the wake of the king's disappearance long after that of the queen, the Realm of the Burning Rose was left in a state of panic and anarchy. Pandemonium reached untold heights until Lichen -- the worn veteran that he was -- stamped his foot on the ground and proclaimed that he knew just the dragon to rule.

"Why me?" Oneiro asked moments after Windfall blustered in and wheezed out the news.

Windfall, disheveled and panting from the force of her sprint, replied bluntly: "Who knows?"

Still, the former dream interpreter took on the job with a humane tenderness. His record for acts of kindness towards the poor and sick is unparalleled by other clans in the region -- and this, for sure, is the only thing that he lets himself be proud of. He walks among his people with an wavering smile, wishing he might one day be their equal again.

But he knows his hopeless fantasy will never come true until a blooded sovereign reclaims the throne.

"It be like that sometimes."
