Ziro and Jaelyin were one of the first mated pairs of the Tempest Asylum. He had no love for the Spiral, but hoped to prove himself to be a desirable mate and father by becoming her partner. When he did not earn Elaziel's interest, Ziro cast his mate, and his eldest children, aside.

Ziro was originally assigned as one of Ryze's wardens when she was a prisoner. He used her, as he did other prisoners. In time he developed a fondness for her. And
