~~Queen of the Fairies~~

 Titania
Once upon a time, a dragon was blessed by the fairies. It was uncommon for the mystical beings to pay attention to the likes of drakes, but for some reason, a small Imperial of Lightning heritage was different. From the moment of her birth, pixies of all shapes, sizes and colours flew to her, as attracted as a moth was to a flame. Her parents were awed by the ethereal visits, but also afraid. For the Lightning Flight emphasized logic and explanations, and shunned unsolvable mysteries and phenomenons. For this reason, her parents dared not keep her, afraid that the clan might cast her out, and with her, them. But that didn't mean that they didn't love her; they simply wanted her to grow up in a place where she could be accepted, and with acceptance, love. So, on a quiet night, knowing the intentions of their clanmates to rid themselves of the hatchling, the parents slipped out of the lair, the dozing hatchling snuggled up against the mother's wings. They placed her in a custom transportation device, begged the fairies to look after her, and sent her away across the sea. The fairies kept to their promise, moved by the parents' love, and they carried the snoozing hatchling to the place where all fairies came from - the Starwood Strand. There, they set her down in a clearing, summoned more of their sisters, and accompanied the hatchling through the early stages of her life. Eventually the hatchling matured into a dragon, and though her appearance changed, the fairies' love for her didn't. Through means of communication, she learned who her parents were, and knew they loved her, though she could not recall ever feeling such love. However, she was interested in the outside world that the fairies spoke of, and decided that she would take it upon herself to explore it. And so began Titania's journey.

Though Titania never got close to draconic civilisation - she didn't know the draconic tongue, either - she found out a great deal about the outside world simply through observation. She learned from the many pixies she met on the way the dragon lore, and heard of the eleven great deities. On one of her journeys, she found herself attending the Thundercrack Carnival, where the rain and thunder scared away the pixies, but left Titania awestruck and amazed by the pure power of her heritage. Eventually, Titania's travels brought her back to the Starfall Isles, where she began exploring the places beyond the Starwood Strand. During her exploration, she came upon a grassy outcropping peeking out from a cliff. Upon checking it out, she found a narrow tunnel that led her to a secret fairy colony hidden within the cliff. However, the grove they used as a habitat was in disrepair, and the population of pixies were being heavily impacted by this loss. Always one to help those in need, Titania took it upon herself to restore the corrupted habitat. Unaware that this grove was already well-known by another, and oblivious to the fact that she was being watched, Titania happily helped the pixies reconstruct their garden into a place more suitable for the delicate beings. After the plant life in the secret grove was restored, Titania found herself approached by Thyone. He had known of the grove since the beginning, had known of her arrival since day one, but hadn't expected her to stay. When one of his pixies told him different, Thyone had approached the grove in an attempt to find out what the young dragon was doing. Unfortunately for both of them, what could've ended up as a peaceful conversation escalated when the captain of the guards, Avarice, shadowed Thyone. Avarice had never trusted Thyone, and believed that the scientist was never up to any good. And when he found a young, strange Imperial in a previously unknown pixie grove, he deemed it a problem, and stepped out of hiding to confront the two. What happened next, Titania can never find herself capable of explaining. From her point of view, two big, very angry dragons were screaming at each other. From Thyone's point of view, Avarice was being sneaky and irritable, and from the latter's perspective, Thyone was dabbling in shady business with a shady (though rather sparkly) dragon. During their argument, Thyone was surprised to find himself insisting that they allowed Titania to stay, though this should have been no surprise, since he tended to always be on the side Avarice was against. The scientist argued that Titania had done good for the fairies there and even helped cultivate and maintain the flora. She, he pointed out, was even working with the pixies, who were normally considered too demanding and too much of an hassle for the other clan members to handle. Besides, he said, did Avarice want to tend to the pixie garden in her stead? That sealed the deal. Avarice, surprisingly, backed down, and Titania has been the caretaker of the pixie grove since. |

Though she spends the majority of her time in the pixie garden, Titania is still a highly valued member of the clan. She's the only one fluent in pixie speak, which nobody else can understand. Unfortunately, not having interacted much with other dragons, Titania is not as fluent in the draconic tongue, and on the rare occasions when she's frustrated, she slips into the tinkling pixie tongue. Which sounds rather adorable, except for the fact she only speaks the language in front of others when she's really, really mad. And when she's really, really mad, so are her pixie friends, and pixies, believe me, are not ethereal beings you want to tick off. Within the clan, Titania is tasked with keeping everyone mindful of the delicate environment, and reminding Spiritdawn that no, skipping is not good for the plants, nobody wants to replace the three trees and several flower patches your last earthquake demolished. It's been happening less as Spiri matures, but still - no skipping sprees at all would be nice. Titania is also consistently reminding Thyone to stay out of her hydrangeas. He doesn't always obey her mandate (he never obeys her mandate), but she doesn't mind reminding him again and again and possibly annoying him more than anyone else. After all, what are friends for? (Yes, it annoys Avarice to no end that Thyone actually has a friend. Unfortunately, he can't take it out on Titania. For one, she's really just a cute, innocent imp. For another, she has a rather impressive guard of pixies.) There is a mysterious aura that Titania radiates. It is uncertain what exactly this power is, for Titania has never been seen to use magic. Thyone notes that this power seems similar to that of pixies, except much stronger, and for some reason, all pixies seem to fall into submission when Titania takes command. But that's ridiculous. The Fairy Queen hasn't existed for years. And even if she did still exist, how could she possibly be a dragon? |
