Euphus is young, curious, and motivated to learn everything about everything! He spends a lot of time turning over rocks, taking notes and sketches about everything he encounters in one of his ubiquitous notebooks, and asking questions to anyone who is willing to answer. After running out Wisteria's knowledge (and patience), Euphus managed to wrangle himself a spot as Ken's sort-of apprentice. He runs errands for the Skydancer, fetches research materials, and tries not to make a nuisance of himself. The arrangement works better than it should; through a mix of learning through experience and direct teaching, Ken has managed to impart a little bit of everything. To Ken's surprise, that 'little bit of everything' was enough to get Euphus through the entrance exams for Lukra University, a small, newly-established college in the Starfall Isles. Though he's more nervous than he lets on, Euphus is more than willing to give it the ol' college try (heh). All he has to do now is not think about how for the first time in his life, he's a continent away from home. |

In lieu of a traditional post-secondary education, Ken offered (or was badgered into, depending on who you ask) a more unusual arrangement. Euphus would act as an assistant for his research, take measurements, set up equipment, fetch coffee, and in the process learn about astronomy and the scientific method. |

Though she'd never admit it to his face, Rosemary secretly hopes that this school is the next step after the apprenticeship to getting her little cousin out of Square Toe. Euphus is too smart to be stuck in this desert town forever, and Ken at least had a choice about it. |

Petticoat is in complete agreement with Rosemary, if for different reasons. When Euphus isn't in his apprenticeship, he spends a lot of time in her radio shack, poking at the equipment and asking questions she wasn't even sure how to answer. Recruiting him to the SSMC would get both them a competent mechanic and her some peace and quiet. |
