Shapeshifter Meek, Bashful, Timid

Soul always had a rough life. From the moment she was born, it almost felt like the world was against her. She was constantly being teased and shunned by her clanmates over her dark, “disgusting” colors. Her meek, soft personality made her being a target even worse, each jab breaking her a little bit more. She just wanted to make people happy. She hated the bullying and wanted to learn how to change the way she looked, eventually finding the craft of shapeshifting. She taught herself how to change into several different animals, but by far her favorite was a white dove. It was the complete opposite of her usual dark colors, and she loved how beautiful it felt. The only catch was that she had to change back at night, back into the dragon form she despised. Unfortunately, the clan found out. They thought her practice was dark magic, that she was evil. They attacked her, but she luckily was able to change into a dove and fly away before they got to her too bad. She flew as far as she could in the wounded condition she was in, but eventually had to stop outside a cave. She was surprised when a male Pearlcatcher found her, taking her into the cave that was apparently his home. He nursed her back to health and the gesture touched Soul in her heart, one of the kindest things someone has done for her in her life. She decided to stick with this kind dragon but only in her dove form. She left every night to avoid having him find out about her. She was scared that he would reject her, maybe even attack her like her clan had. She enjoyed his company and started to fall in love with him. Many days went by with no problems… As usual, her luck ran out and one evening he decided to put her in a cage. He had already latched the lock before she realized that night was coming and she started to panic. She changed back into a dragon in front of him, and she was both horrified and terrified. She pleaded for him not to abandon her. To her surprise, he did the opposite of what she expected. He comforted her and told her his name, Nathaniel. He understood what she had been through and was allowing her to stay. Soul was overjoyed. He was the only person who hadn’t rejected her and she was actually making him happy. As they spent more time together, they bonded closer and Nathaniel eventually fell in love with her too. They became mates. She is much happier now, having a place to be and someone to love who loves her back. She’s finally in a place where she’s accepted and a place where she feels safe. It’s an incredible improvement from where she was when she was younger and she wouldn’t change a thing, knowing it led her here. (Lore by: RaKoeRose) |
