Biography
NAME: Gael
TITLE: Commander (previously Second Prince)
STATUS: Active, travelling
PARTNER: Cawnyl
Gael the first hatchling born of his mother's newly founded clan. He saw his clan band together through early hardship and grew into his horns with little effort. He never envied his brother, Aegis, for the part he had to play as Crown Prince. Rather, Gael brought his own ideas to the table and stood side by side with his older brother at his coronation, where he became King Aegis. Gael was left to wonder what that made him. Others wondered as well, but eventually, the king decided that his brother was his equal, and as such, could be made to serve in his place should he suffer an untimely, heirless death.
Although Gael was happy to aid his clan if at all possible, he came of age soon after his brother's decision. He was rarely seen by Aegis' side anymore if anyone's; the brothers who were once inseparable suffered many arguments. The Search became Gael's focus, but he was restrained by his duties, which in turn agonized him greatly.
However, unlike Aegis, Gael would be allowed to choose his own path.
"I have opened the gates to you and your sons' futures," Aegis declared as he signed a decree allowing any royal to renounce their title. Gael jumped on the opportunity, separating himself from the crown forever. No longer could he be called upon. He was a free dragon, and thus he set out to find his charge.
In the midst of these issues, Gael became entangled with Cawnyl, whom he later proposed to. The initial length of his journey, which separated them soon after their engagement, discouraged the Fae, and she broke it off. It wasn't until he returned, years later, that they were able to repair their relationship. There were many times before then that they reunited, reconciled, and separated in a rapid fashion. Their offspring suffered no issues despite this, often quick on their feet and out of the nest in no time at all.
To this day, Gael has yet to propose to Cawnyl a second time, as he is waiting to do so when he finally finds his charge. As time drags on, he dreads that The Search may never cease. Cawnyl knows this, which is why she often asks to accompany him on his journeys. He refuses her each time, gently reminding her of the post she guards. His questioning of her loyalty to her job usually starts an intense altercation, solved only by Gael's size difference.
NOTES:
Much longer than an average male guardian but with a smaller wingspan. Weighs less than an average male.
