B I O G R A P H Y



______ A lone hatchling sits in the corner of a cave, weeping and clutching her head. Memories and feelings flash before her eyes, of abuse, trust and betrayal, death, and more. But these were not hers, these memories were those of the dragon that sat before her, trying to understand what was going on in the mind of the young dragon. Akuma had seen newborn dragons struggle with the powers given to them by The Shade before, but never like this. This hatchling was different, even among Shade-touched. Her power was terrifying; she could see into the memories of any dragon she saw, and immediately understand them.

______ Many dragons in the clan would often express how amazing Galathea’s powers were, and how they would give anything to have abilities like hers. From the moment of her birth, Galathea could speak fluently because of the memories she gained from seeing her mother. By simply placing her eyes upon other dragons, she gained immense knowledge of everything from fighting to engineering and everything in between, and other dragons were jealous of this innate ability to simply become a master at just about anything. However, what these dragons didn’t know was how much these memories pained her. Galathea loathed her powers. Every time she set sight on a new dragon, she would see their entire lives flash before her eyes. It confused and scarred her more with every new dragon that walked in. She lost count how many deaths she had witnessed, how many lies and betrayals she had seen, but worst of all, everything confused her. As she grew older, it became harder and harder to separate her own memories from those of others. With every new dragon she met she spiraled deeper into depression. She grew multiple personalities, and was constantly riddled with anxiety. In attempts to keep herself sane, she locked herself inside of her den, sometimes for months at a time, until she could finally sort through everything and calm down a little.

______ Even with training, Galathea could barely control her power. No matter what she did, no matter how she trained, she could never choose whether or not she would see a dragon’s past. Eventually, she gave in to it, and decided that rather than train to not take in memories, she would train to simply “deal with it”. With help, Galathea learned how to separate memories from her own, and suppress others using magic. When leaving the lair, she can often be seen wearing a blindfold to avoid unwanted stress, though still seems to get around fine for the most part. She can still be unpredictable, and takes to staying in her room, however Galathea does enjoy time out, when she can make memories of her own.
