"Things may rust and break with age, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fix them."

______ A large green dragon sits by a table in a dark corner, covered in old books and trinkets and only lit by a small candle. Focused entirely on his work, he tinkers with a small, clearly aged toy. A tool slips through his claws and he curses about how big and clumsy they are. Day and night he continues his work, for Evergreens don’t rest.

______ Ever since he was just a hatchling, Evergreen had an odd fascination with toys. Not just any toys, however, but toys and trinkets made during the days of the Second Age. These items were nothing like he could ever see in their current age. They were far too advanced, with a combination of magic and technology like no other. Yet, these trinkets were old, and had not been used in millenia, so they were broken and their uses lost to time. Most historians simply made educated guesses on what they did and how they were used, but that wasn’t enough for Evergreen. He wanted to be absolutely sure of what they could do, and the only way to know that would be to operate them. He collected as many artifacts as he could, attempting to tinker with and learn about them at any time he could. Of course, despite his best efforts, these items were always heavily damaged and no matter what he tried, Evergreen could never seem to get any to come back to life, until he finally came across one peculiar toy..

______ One night, Evergreen went out to hunt for more trinkets to toy with. It had rained heavily the night before, and he had high hopes for uncovering artifacts that may have come down with landslides. Lo and behold, the dragon did find something; a small old toy on wheels, that looked somewhat like a colorful and rounded metal box, as well as what looked to be some sort of controller. Satisfied, Evergreen brought the toy back to his den and began his work on it. He pried open a plate on the bottom to reveal its inner workings, and as he did, a small cylinder fell out. He had seen these before, and named them “charge units”, as he had determined they often powered these toys. However, this one seemed… different. It looked almost as if it were glowing a deep purple, as if it were still imbued with whatever magic made it work in the first place. Curious, Evergreen picked it up, and immediately felt a rush of power and knowledge flow through him. He sat in shock for what felt like hours, before finally snapping back to reality. He looked down at the charge unit. The purple glow had gone away, and to the dragon’s surprise, it looked shiny, colorful, and new. He could even see ancient print along the unit, probably letting the user know how much power it held.

______ Confused, yet intrigued, Evergreen picked up the toy he had found to place the unit back inside, but as he did, a green mist began emanating from his claw, and he watched in awe as the toy began to restore itself; rust fell away, showing a shiny new coat of metal, lost pieces formed from nothing, and the paints brightened and solidified. He tried the same with the toy’s controller, and again it happened. It was as if the objects were brand new, fresh from the maker. The moment of truth, Evergreen placed the charge unit back into the toy, and… proceeded to play with a toy that was thousands of years old for like, 12 hours straight like a little child with a new birthday gift.

______ After enjoying hours of playing with his new toy in victory, Evergreen finally stopped to try processing what had just happened. He touched a charge unit, felt power run through him, then touched a toy and restored it to brand new quality. He figured the clan elders would probably have some insight, so he went to meet with Sunburst, an old and wise spiral, also the first to become Shadetouched. Evergreen walked into her den, and the spiral looked up at him. She gave him one line, and left.

______ "The Shade has blessed and cursed you with this. Your bindings to time are no longer."
