Kuja
This is who I am: Escapist, Paradise Seeker...

Occupation:

As the founder of the clan, Kuja has held the title of leader from the very beginning. He takes care of the diplomatic relationships both within his own clan and with other, foreign clans nowadays.
In the early days of the Enchanted Masquerade, Kuja also acted as a healer and mage accompanying the up-striving warriors and future guards on their dangerous training journeys. While his skills in battle magic are still as sharp as ever, his abilities of healing have become a bit rusty over time.

Personality:

While very professional and moderate when it comes to fulfilling his duty as the clan leader, Kuja can display a completely different attitude when in private with someone he trusts dearly: His vanity regarding his appearance paired with his stubbornness can become quite the bother for those around him. Giving him a quick reminder that others might be watching will usually help fix that little issue, however.

Kuja takes great pride in the wealthy clan he has managed to establish and will occasionally boast about this achievement, although he tries his best to not let this become an obnoxious bad habit.

Backstory:

“Once upon a time, there was a small, bleak-eyed fae that roamed the lands of Sornieth in search of a new home.

Having traveled so far and wide, the dragon had met many pleasant people; had seen many beautiful places and had collected curious trinkets – yet for all the good things he had encountered, he encountered even more misfortune and pain
And so Kuja, as the fae was called, began to dream not only at night under the soft gaze of the moon, but also while the sun was keeping reign in the sky. He dreamed of a world without bad where every creature could live in peace, yet the dragon was fully aware of this being just wishful thinking.
That was, at least, until Kuja reached the arcane lands of the dreamers. Realizing that his wish for his dreams to come true could not be fulfilled in the large scale, the fae found a determination igniting within him to make it work on a smaller level. As the flames started burning within his chest, his eyes changed their color to a gleaming pink.”

At least that is one of the tales nowadays told to the hatchlings of the clan. Kuja himself rarely ever talks about his past and neither confirms nor denies whatever rumors the other members might chatter about.

The Masquerade:

Meant as a place to escape from the harsh reality and its pain, the clan has declared its everlasting masquerade shortly after it was founded. What started out as a simple game among the dragons sharing the similar wish of getting lost in their peaceful daydreams has eventually become a tradition every member is proud to be part of.

For visitors or outsiders this peculiar tradition of hiding their faces beneath masks, bird skulls, wolf pelts or hoods might seem strange and pointless, yet the members of the clan themselves see wearing the masks as a confirmation of being a valued part of the family and as a sign of belonging.
