Biography

Mate: Varuna?

Old Stuff

Dawnsblood is the great daughter of Sunset and BloodMoon. At a young age she showed great strength when she would roughhouse with her brother coming close to beating him every time. She is powerful, yes, but she's hard headed and wants to get her way in every situation. She loves exploring the forest but is slightly upset her puny sister gets their mother's first familiar.

She was angered by all the attention the new hatchlings were getting and when no one was looking slaughtered the little male. She wants to eradicate all the hatchlings. Next she slaughtered the lighter colored female before she was stopped by Drogo.

3/2/22

Both of her siblings are gone. Harrowing died. Drogo was exiled. In one day she went from having two siblings to none at all... Instead of anguish, Dawnsblood is ecstatic. This would mean, with her mother's obsession with bloodlines, she was next in line to lead the clan, even with the mistakes she had made in the past.

3/5/22

Today, her mother brought in an ancient breed from the market. She seemed to trust him greatly for having just met him. It caught her interest because her mother never respects someone that much that fast. He seems powerful, just like she is.

3/7/22

After finding out that Varuna is in fact sterile, she cried, running to her mother. It had been love at first sight. He was the only dragon that she had set her eyes on and now she couldn't have children with him. There was no way she could lead the clan to prosperity in these conditions. Sunset promised to fix it though, and her mother has never let her down before.

3/9/22

When she had gone to her mother two days prior, she had not expected the sort of "fix" that Sunset had implemented. It had proved Varuna was not sterile, but she wouldn't subject the dragon she had fallen so quickly for to a torment like this. Although, Khoi and the children he is to have with her, she would gladly kill. Her mother, seeing this very real possibility, has forbidden her to, threatening her with exile should she harm them.

3/13/22

The day arrived when Varuna and Khoi's eggs were to hatch. Dawnsblood caught site of the way Varuna looked longingly at the den where his mate lay with the newborns. She also noticed how he seemed to steel himself and turn away. A sharp pang of guilt coursed through her, a new emotion she hadn't felt before, and she made her way towards the den.

She demanded one of the hatchlings from Khoi, who begrudgingly agreed. She handed over a small female and Dawnsblood kept her tucked away in her wings until Sunset came and picked up the rest of the children, leaving the camp to sell them.

After her mother left, Dawnsblood made her way over to Varuna. He looked at her apprehensively until she revealed the small dragon she had kept. There was shock written across his face and he looked up at her, their eyes locking. All he was able to ask was, "Why?"

She explained how no matter how much he told himself it didn't affect him, that she knew it hurt. And that it was all her fault he was going through this. The least she could do was to take one of the children he had and make sure she was safe.

"Thank you," he said softly as he stared lovingly at his unnamed daughter.

Dawnsblood took a step forward, pressing her head against his. A tender action that she'd never do for anyone else. "Of course. I'm sorry, Varuna." He whispered a soft reassurance back to her, so quiet she could barely hear. She then lifted her head and bid him farewell, going to find somewhere to hide the hatchling.

3/19/22

Dawnsblood had watched Haven grow up from the hatchling destined for the markets. She had grown attached to the young dragon she at first had no interest in. Now, the time had finally come for her to send Haven on her way. She raised her voice, she yelled, she pleaded, and eventually Haven did leave the clan. Dawnsblood cried after she was gone, comforted by Varuna. She had seen Haven as her own daughter, and now she knew the sort of pain her mother put every dragon through, even if she knew it was for the good of the clan.
