Drone #43 "Merak"
Long as the room keeps singing, that's just the business I'm in.

One of the many descendants of Mizar and Alcor who has remained to become one of Clan Goldwood's soldier caste. As a group they've started being called drones, which was not intended as a flattering term but they've all taken a sort of pride in being their parents' yes-men.

Drones don't have names, ordinarily - just numbers. Helps facilitate being a faceless, interchangeable army. This particular drone has gained status that the rest of them lack: she is Goldwood's requisitioner, the dragon responsible for obtaining fledgelings to be trained for the glory of Her Luminance. It's not an easy job; it takes a lot of skill and experience to do it, and do it well. Thus, the aforementioned status.

Drone #43 goes by Merak, originally just to her dealers (one needs something to call their contact, after all), but now she introduces herself as such to her clanmates and fellow drones as well. If it weren't for her distinctively droneish slang, you'd never guess she'd started as one at all. Contamination from outsides, Mizar says dismissively, and ignores the odd drone out entirely. Merak would agree, if you asked her, and wouldn't even attempt to hide it. She is still a drone, after all, and drones are nothing if not obedient and loyal, no matter their quirks.

(Yet she says it with a sort of dry humor, and rebellions always start small...)

Character Notes
Worker Bees, This Ain't A Scene
• Merak is flippant towards just about everyone, even as she flatters and grovels. She's very good at the flattery part and in general telling people what they want to hear, so even though most of them find her annoying it's not enough to actually do anything about it. Merak is quite aware of the effect her behaviour has on people and thoroughly enjoys it.
• Merak also functions as a diplomat, on the occasions that Goldwood requires one. She appears equally at home among nobility as she does among brigands.
• While Mizar generally ignores the abnormality that is Merak, Alcor is forced to deal with her on a regular basis. She maintains a facade of civility towards her offspring, but she really doesn't like her. Merak is quite aware of this, and is also equally aware that Alcor can't afford to actually do anything to her.

OOC Notes
• Dragon version of a Jet Force Gemini OC!
• Despite all her flippancy towards her commanders and her clan, Merak is steadfastly loyal to them. Alcor in particular suspects her loyalties lie elsewhere - she's wrong. However, Merak recognizes that Goldwood as it is now is not sustainable and will collapse, eventually. She also knows that neither Mizar nor Alcor are going to listen to her if she says something.
• Her predecessor, Mez, actively assisted dragons trying to escape exaltation. Merak does no such thing... but she does turn a blind eye to them. It allows a lot more escapees than would otherwise be possible.
