QUEEN OF BONES
Rosemary, the First
Cinnabar Plaguebringer
Cinnabar Plaguebringer
Cinnabar Plaguebringer

Nobody knows where the Queen came from. The most popular theory is that she crawled out of the Wyrmwound with a will and a fury; too angry to die, too determined to do anything more than live. The thing of exposed bone and sinew that accompanies her certainly doesn't help matters. (Is that supposed to be her mate?)

Does it matter where she came from, though, when she's here right now? She took on packmates with a surprising speed and fervor. First, her children—many in number, though only two remain—then, those wanderers who would certainly have almost died in the wastelands otherwise.

It is surprising to see a mirror take on those of a different species into her pack. Sure, it happens on occasion, but in ones and twos, those practically raised by the pack, those honorary mirrors themselves; not many others would want to uproot their homes and lairs for the rest of their lives.

But those who enter the Scarred Wasteland are a special kind of breed, no matter the element nor species, and perhaps that was what attracted those to the Queen's pack. It certainly helped that she was willing to promise them things. Power, riches, food-a-plenty; anything you wanted and more, as long as you were willing to prove yourself. If you survived beneath her, you deserved it.

Her pack has grown now in the many years since her arrival. Her pack has survived. Her pack has thrived. And although those who follow directly in the Queen's path have grown separate from those who have finally given in to the urge for a permanent lair, forming the Oasis—well.

They all know who their Queen is.
