I was once a royal member of the Honor Guard in the land I used to live in. One night in my sleep, I was kidnapped by the Black Night Shadows. Caged in a cave for 15 years, my wings slowly lost their luster and dirt piled up on my back. Every night I dreamed of freedom and my home. I was never one to bathe in my royalty; I have always tried to stay humble and kind to anyone, but none of that mattered anymore. My life as I'd known it was over.

One night, I felt a presence in my cell. A shadowed figure was moving close to me. By this point in my experience here, I had learned to not resist: things move more quickly that way. After all of the tests and beatings, I had learned to give in to the pain. However, this shadow had a light and soft touch. It was almost more painful than a beating and I wanted to cry at the tenderness. I realized that the tender touch was a pair of silky wings of a big male Imperial. His colors flooded my memory; he looked like I once had.

I had decided that I could finally pass on to the next life and hoped that nothing else would be painful. This male (whom I would soon come to find out is named Artic) had been sent to pillage the Black Night Shadows' lair and steal their most prized possessions. So he took me home to his lair and never looked back. I fell in love with my savior that night and am in love with him to this day.

When he took me from that cave, I passed out. Being half his size, he secured me to his back and flew me home. The next thing I knew, I woke up in a bath of warm milk with my savior rubbing the dirt from my wings and in complete awe of me. I knew then that I could never repay him and I also could never leave him.

My story, however, has a darker side. This is the end of the love story. The behind-the-scenes story is a bit more grim. I have never told the story of my nightmares or my constant fear of being alone. I am waiting for Dustin to fly off and leave me any day. I know he is tired of holding me during my night terrors. He says that he can handle the good and the bad but I just hope the bad isn't too much for him. It is for me.
