(Γαλήνη gah-LEEN)
Named for the Greek goddess of calm seas
DESCRIPTION At a young age, Galene was sent to an orphanage in the Obscured Crescent without much hope of being adopted. Though the proprietors, an intimidating Mirror named Veiled and especially his kindly Fae mate Feathermoon, looked after and cared for the orphans, they were kept separated from the main part of the clan's lair. The little blue Nocturne felt abandoned and lonely and was terrified of the Shadowbinder and the possibility of being sent to serve her. |

Only six hours later, however, she was on her way to a new home; when bringing in a Spiral that she hadn't been able to find a home for herself, Merlinda spotted the little Nocturne and fell in love, appealing to the proprietors to let the baby girl come home with her in exchange for the Spiral. Galene was overjoyed; she chirped and whistled and sang the whole way to the Starfall Isles. On arriving, however, she was nervous to meet the lair's Guardian protector, Gaia, but soon found a mother figure in the large Guardian. She also was instantly taken with one of the older Nocturnes, a deep-water warrior named Ahti. She stayed close to him, and he looked after her as she settled into life in her new home and grew into a slender and elegant adult. |

| While the two were visiting the Fishspine Reef, Galene woke one night to hear Ahti crooning a soft, lonesome, mournful song that broke her heart to hear. She crept up and softly began harmonizing with him, the song turning into a gentle duet. The next morning the pair had a nest of two eggs. Though over a year older than her, this was Ahti's first nest as well, and both turned out to be nervous first parents--far from home, they were unsure what to do. Fortunately there were other pairs in the lair that helped the couple tend to their eggs. Despite their efforts, the nest remained fairly cool--the couple returned with two male hatchlings. |
