Other dragons might describe Notorious as boastful ... except that they couldn't tell you what he boasts about. It can be said, at least, that he's very open about his background ... but he never tells the same story twice, and it seems implausible that so many events could have occurred in one dragon's life. He'll answer any question frankly ... but the asker will leave feeling that they've been spun around several times. In short, no one really knows the origins of Notorious.

His vicious fangs have a silvery, needle-like cast, though his hide is curiously soft and prone to fraying. The scars on his flanks and crests certainly bear up the notion that he's led an adventurous existence. And when asked about his parentage, he flashes those sharp teeth and says, "Parents I have. Yet I wasn't hatched, but made." This leads into another fascinating and credibility-straining tale about the events that eventually tumbled him into the lap of Clan Magpie.

For all that, Notorious can be surprisingly kind when he's with hatchlings (who listen wide-eyed to his stories and disregard the skepticism of adults). And he's wonderfully gentle with the small animals he likes to raise, whether for pets or for food.
