-- THE WAR-TORN SOLDIER --

Wait For It
Careful > Soft-spoken > Easily-startled
Chikan was born at a bad time, and raised in even worse conditions. It was the cusp of leaders, one dying, one being chosen, but there was so much war and rage over the throne, the position, the title, that is quickly threw the rest of the clan in disarray. Dragons chose sides, families fought each other, friends, and the young hatchling could only do his best to follow is parents' instructions, but it only grew worse. With the clan broken into factions, this allowed the beastclans to reclaim territory. The battle grew into war, and the dragons refused to be unified to fight their enemy.
A mandatory draft was enacted, and young dragons and hatchlings alike were stolen from their poverty-stricken families and throw into the field with little to no training. Chikan had been too young, barely in his adult feathers, when he was pit against the centaurs. Heavy hooves and sharp spears, swords. There may have been more dragons, but it was nothing against organized and trained warriors. Too many died, there was too much blood, and they only won the battle based on their opponent's retreat. Chikan was shaken, flying home, head blank, unable to focus.
Unfortunately, there were more. Some against dragons, others against the beastclans. A home he never knew became an entirely different landscape. His town teeth and claws found dragons and beasts alike, fighting more for survival than for any leader or clan. His second to last battle was a grim run-in, him against a guardian dragon. That dragon had obviously been bred for war, Chikan thrown and tossed around like nothing more than a rag doll, unable to out-fly them. It was by sheer luck, beastclans attacking, that he was able to escape. It was the distraction he needed.
And he flew long and far, not wanting to go back. He wanted to get as far away as possible, landing in the Viridian Labyrinth, and resting, sleeping. It was then the clan found him, and with caution, he followed them back to their home, a somewhat crowded home, but they gave him food and water, a soft place to rest. Some nights are sleepless, and the days last too long, but Cici has told him to rest, and they will find him work when he is ready.
The clan's founders have long since gone into hibernation back at their previous location, in the lush green hills of the Viridian Labyrinth, while the rest moved to Dragonhome. He has handled it well, making a new life for himself, scouting the area, helping the map-makers with the trails he's found, and overall he is conent.
There are whispers among the clan however, among younger members, that he kills dragons who do not pull their weight. They call him 'Exalter,' though where the name originated from, no one knows. Chikan is aware of these rumors, but ignores them best he can. He has no answers for any questions on the topic.
With a fear of the dark, his den is filled with things that glow.
