Biography
THE AUTHOR
Pen and Ink, as she's long been nicknamed, dreamed even at a young age of becoming a famous author. She devoured books (metaphorically) to study the craft of writing and, in the process. fell in love with horror. While most stories would draw your sympathy to the protagonist and make a reader empathize, horror could do more. The protagonist could disgust the reader; the protagonist could unnerve the reader; and all it took were special turns of phrases, care in the use of words, to accomplish this unique task. A careless error in writing horror would turn it into a farce. She began penning her own horror stories and, to her delight, they sold well. Such delight faded into irritation upon hearing the reviews - a 'guilty pleasure', 'certainly worth the cost', 'killed time well'. By the time she met Sulmara, encountering the witch dragon on a trip to the Molten Scar, she had grown bitter of her fans - and when it seemed any horror writer was enough to hold their attention, she despised them. Sulmara invited the author back to the lair, where she obsessed over the secret to success - to become more than just "a horror author". It was during one of Sulmara's meetings with Tragete that she received her inspiration - the spiral seer had warned Sulmara to watch her books, since "you know what lives in them".
The author one night rifled through Sulmara's personal library, finding a book of summonings and called up... an Imperial? No, something was off about him. He made an offer she couldn't refuse: present to him her name and eyes, and he would make her a phenomenal success. She didn't even hesitate - her nickname became the only title she had left, and her eyes became bloody pools.
The rest of the clan now regards her warily, but she considers it a fair price to pay for the success she's now achieved.
