Clan insect catcher

Xie has had the habit of getting into their mother's ribbon stash since being a hatchling. At first, some of their clutchmates were confused, since they would fearlessly tear through the mostly-dead fauna of the Scarred Wasteland with beautiful blues, golds, reds, and violets streaming behind them. Neighbors from other clans also looked at them strangely- were they a tomboyish girl or a prissy boy? Xingfu and Lailah, with the wise guidance of Selkynn and Baenre, held their silence in the face of near-constant pestering from young and old dragons alike until Xie finally gave their own answer- neither. They were Something Else, they proclaimed- and for their clutchmates, the nickname stuck. Of course, "Something Else" is longer than Xie's actual name is, but hatchling logic isn't necessarily logical to others. Over time, it has degenerated into "Sum'Else" or "Sumel," but that's as short as the nickname has ever gotten.

Despite flowing and floating decorations that should catch on everything as they tear through bone strewn landscapes or soak up every pestilent pool when they burrow, Xie is fiendishly efficient at their clan office. Whether the coveted insects fly, crawl, or burrow, there's nowhere Xie won't go to get them. For some variety, Xie is one of the few gatherers who will happily trundle far across other territories to capture prey- and running after insects at break neck speed past other clans into other territories is how they met Deidra in the first place. The two developed a friendship first, then a relationship over time, as Deidra got used to Xie's pronouns and their comfort with making a nest with a female dragon despite not identifying as male. Deidra enjoys Xie's lovely, thoughtful gifts and copious displays of goofy affection, even if it sometimes comes in the form of lying in the way of the habitats that she's made for the familiars, since she has a hard time knowing when to stop working.
