Biography
CALLIOPE Calliope was blessed by the Icewarden when she hatched. As was generally the case, Calliope herself had no idea of the blessing, as the deity didn’t see the need to tell her. It gave her a deep and abiding love for her homeland, however, as well as an appreciation for the breeds native to the Southern Icefield. Gaolers and Tundras fascinated her, and there were several times, especially while shivering through an especially chilly night, that she thought about becoming one. It was a big commitment, she knew, one that she wasn’t quite ready for yet. Her core personality would remain, she knew, but some of her traits that were solely due to her breed would be gone, replaced by new, foreign traits. As intriguing as she found the idea, it was something she kept to herself for the present. The consummate scribe, it is rare to see her without some sort of writing tool in her claws. She tended to be more of a reporter and scribe than an actual archivist, more concerned with writing things down than preserving old writings. As there was only so much her clan would need written at any point, she tended to be roped into the task of delivery girl, flying between locations to deliver messages and items between her clanmates and occasionally to others outside of their clan. She never truly minded, as it gave her a chance to get out and stretch her wings, but she always enjoyed being able to come home and curl up with her writing supplies afterwards. Unlike many dragons, Calliope planned for her future. Being a scribe was far from a dangerous profession, but it was still one that had an expiration date. If her sight started to go, her claws started to cramp after a small amount of writing, or her mind started to wander too far afield, she knew that would be the point when she would need to retire. As much as she loved her current clan, Calliope planned to go back to the Southern Icefield once she did retire, as it was the place she had felt the most at home. And perhaps, by the time she went back, she would have an attractive Tundra or Gaoler mate, to keep her warm as they cuddled during the warm nights. Perhaps, by that point, she would have changed her breed and be able to keep herself warm. That was the future, however, and Calliope would rather focus on the good points of her present. |
