Traveler Off To See The World!
Uh-oh, looks like this curious Ridgeback wandered a little too far from his home lair (276686, gbot13), and now he's off to see the world! Travel Journal
Ankar is the son of a Lightning rogue and an exploratory Nature Skydancer. Born in a quiet, small lair in the Everbloom Gardens, Ankar grew up amongst trees, flowers, and small animals. His father left for the Shifting Expanse when he was quite young, and Ankar strongly desired to follow him. He would sit in the low-hanging branches of the trees and look out at the night sky, hoping that his father would return. Ankar's siblings were satisfied with living in the quiet forest, studying the flowers and fruits, but Ankar itched for adventure. He constantly played pranks on the clan dragons, and would frequently try to fly higher than the trees, to see bits of the outside world.

When a courier arrived in the Everbloom Gardens to deliver a crate of apparel, Ankar snuck into the courier's empty bag and hitched a ride down through the Sunbeam Ruins to the Shifting Expanse. Ankar escaped unnoticed when the courier delivered a new familiar to the Cerauno clan, and found his father amongst a group of other Ridgebacks. His father was both delighted and concerned to see him, and helped Ankar integrate into the clan. Ankar grew into a fine young dragon under the care of his father and the stern eye of the clan's leader, Yohn. Learning about his father satisfied Ankar's itch for adventure for a time, but soon after becoming a grown dragon Ankar yearned to travel again. He bid goodbye to his father and set out on his own, to discover the world.

Ankar made a brief stay in the Wind Territory city of Caesura during his travels. He had heard through the grapevine that a new gathering place and rest stop had opened there, and wanted to see it for himself. It was everything he could have hoped! The Rest Hub itself was an old-fashioned inn that had been set up just across the street from a fun local watering hole. There were plenty of other familiar faces also stopping by to see the new space, and stories and drinks aplenty were shared!

While in town, he also visited their Great Bazaar, and purchased a fresh journal to record his travels in. The warm scent of the embossed green leather was comforting, and he couldn't wait to fill in all the new blank pages! ...except..... not all of them were blank? Tucked into the very back pages of the otherwise empty journal was a scribbly map, and a few cryptic notes. Most of it was in a language or code that he didn't recognize. The few words he could understand were 'Beware', and 'Start here'. More concerning were the pictures- a skull and crossbones, and a simplistic red 'X'.

A treasure map? A hidden cache of some secret discovery? Or maybe just some sort of Plague Quarantine Zone? He mused over the possibilities as he took to the wind in search of his next destination. Perhaps where he went to next would know how to decipher the notes.....
