Casper is the only son of Marhalt and Esselm of Clan Wicked Wings of The Observatory. Like his father before him and his sister Cleo, Casper has shamanic powers, but unlike them, he completely detests them. This early hatred arose from him having a bad encounter with a malevolent spirit, which made refuse his powers altogether.

Instead, the young Coatl wants to be trained to fight the undead, believing only unfortunate events can spring from contact with them. Since no one in his home clan knows how to combat them, though, Casper wishes to leave in order to begin his training immediately.

Casper has since found a home among the dragons of The Forgotten Sanctuary within the Plague flight. Here he is being taught how to use his shamanic powers for how he wants to. However as no one else in the clan possess powers of his caliber, he must learn from books and research provided by Pyro and advice from Reaper, a magic expert. Thankfully he is a fast learner and is faring well in his new home.
