Scurvy's origins are unknown, as he washed ashore one day and was picked up by one of Faust's fishing nets. Based on the stories he tells others, he was once a cruel and unrelenting pirate who made his name well known in the Earth and Water Flights, boasting a hundred-count crew and thousands upon thousands of treasure worth of stolen goods and trinkets.
By far the cruelest thing about him is the origin story of his pearl, which he actually stole from another pirate Pearlcatcher by the name of Blackhorn, his rival who, in an act of malice, destroyed Scurvy's pearl amidst a duel between the two. Blinded by rage, Scurvy beheaded the other dragon and stole her pearl from her bleeding corpse, claiming it as his own and now drenching his former rival's memories with his own magic mucus.
He states that ever since Blackhorn's death, pirating has grown dull and boring for him as his "only competition is gone now", and he has since retired and lost all contact with his crew after a terrible storm, which is possibly why Agnes and Roy decided to let the former marauder take refuge within the clan.
