Orcus hatched quietly, just like how he lived the rest of his life. They almost didn't see him, coiled behind all his siblings in the nest, not making a noise. He went into training right along side them all, though. He was meek, and silent, but he learned the way of the Order just as well as anyone else. He learned to hunt the Shade. He just didn't do it the way his siblings did. There were no war cries that left his lips. No flourish of runes or blade, no flashy magic. Everything he did was quiet and concise, as effective as possible without anything showy. He preferred stalking the shadows, and engraving runes on the sides of daggers instead of blades. His magic was subtle. He was a silent hunter. Just as deadly as any other, but twice as hard to catch. Unfortunately, his lack of showmanship made it hard for him to find any work. If he wasn't as flashy as other Shadwhunters employed in the past, how could the client be sure that he was telling the truth. He ended up wandering Sorineth, too ashamed to return home. |

The first thing one would notice about Orcus is the silence. He rarely sheds a word, communicating in nods of the head or smiles. It's not that he can't speak, for he has been checked by many healers, he just prefers not to. Really, he suffers from anxiety that make it almost impossible for his tongue to work. He finds it very inconvenient, and he wishes to find some refuge in a future home clan. Other dragons make him extremely uncomfortable, and he will avoid large groups and one-on-one time like his life depends on it. This causes him to act distant to the point of apathy. He tries to keep himself and his feelings to himself, and others perceive him as stoic on first meeting. This, coupled with an uncharacteristic calmness for a Spiral, leave others convinced he is a hard dragon to get along with. He is very caring though, and selfless almost to a fault. He is willing to sacrifice himself for the benefit of others. Though it is hard for him to find work, he will often get rid of Shade beasts near clans just to make sure no one gets hurt. |
