Biography

Serezha The Warlock |
It isn’t long before you decide to leave Monarch to her attempts at corralling her high-energy familiar, fluttering to a bridge connecting to an island far off from the bulk of the Platforms. The bridge is made of darkened wood, tied by thick grey rope with small patches of moss. There are no sides, only the long, swaying bridge towards the island. Crossing it is treacherous, but you make it to what appears to be a small mountain set in a bog. The ground is marshy and moist, brackish water sloshing over the sides of the platform as wind picks up. You can spy a large cave entrance in the mountain, which is covered by vines of lichen. Settled about the rocky outcropping are piles of bones, some eerily bloodied.
“A skull a day keeps the sanity away,” A voice calls from your right, and you whirl to find a black and white Skydancer, cloaked in purple and settled in a tree. He hadn’t been there before, had he? “I am Serezha, mage of this clan, and this is my island. Can’t say it’s very hospitable, but neither am I.” |

Origins
|

Serezha's life has never been one of ease, despite being a powerful warlock with great magical potential. His mother was a powerful witch as well, though doomed to a life of madness by her parents’ mistakes. Cursed by the Shadowbinder, Serezha's entire familial line from two generations ago now must deal with psychosis caused by the goddess herself.
For the most part, the madness that gripped his mind as a hatchling was of no consequence to Serezha, as he functioned fine when it came to spell casting. His mother was not picture perfect, struggling with her own insanity and therefore falling short in giving Serezha the attention he required. The two only really connected when they were practicing witchcraft, their shared thirst for magical prowess forming a bond, as strenuous as it was. Eventually, the relative peace of Serezha’s childhood came crashing down when a dangerous mage arrived in Clan Lunam, intent on destruction. Introducing herself Geth, the Shade-touched mage attempted to raze the clan to the ground, but found herself caught off guard by the combined forces of Serezha’s and Aiko’s magical strength. A fearsome battle went on, killing or wounding many bystanders while the mages fought between themselves. Eventually, Geth was forced to flee, though she found herself curious as to the power her enemies held; she made a solemn swear as she fled, promising to return for her “pupil”. |
Indeed, Geth returned some time later after the rubble from the battle had been cleared, focused on her new goal: Serezha. She whispered promises of power to the partially insane mage, twisting her own corrupted magic with his and trying to bend the Skydancer to her will. It was only Aiko who cast a single desperate spell that saved Serezha from certain death, though Serezha had already suffered under Geth’s spell. His magic was rendered unstable and uncontrollable at times, his mind shattered beyond that of his mother’s. Aiko, though caring for Serezha in her own way, could not stand to keep her son by her side and disowned him, sending him to wander the lands bitter and alone.
Carrying a vengeance for Geth, Serezha set out to track the mage, ending up in the unforgiving lands of the Shifting Expanse. There he found the Galestorm Flyers, who admitted to imprisoning Geth--the Dark Queen as she was now known--deep underground. Serezha, though mostly insane, became a mage of the clan, setting out to find a way to destroy the one who had destroyed him. His sanity has never returned, but with time and patience he has learned how to care again, helped along by the Wildclaw Hellrise who became his husband. Though protesting the move to Wind at first, Serezha has since found himself more content on the floating islands of the clan, particularly as they allow the physical space he requires to practice the control of his magic as well as keeping Geth far, far below him, away from his fragile mind. |

Simply put, Serezha is insane. To those that do not know him, first impressions state that that is the depth of his character. His life is often spent struggling to control the corrupted magic within him while trying to figure out if what he sees is a hallucination or not. He has been known to speak in tongues randomly, sometimes complete gibberish, or lose all concept of space--which can be an amusing sight, were it not for his screams of terror as he walked into walls. It is only Hellrise and his steadfast insistence that he is and has always been real that keeps Serezha from truly losing all reality at those moments.
Serezha is also known to be a prickly, rude dragon to others, often using rather unaffectionate nick names, snarling and snapping, and insults in lieu of conversation. The only amusing part of that comes from his horribly misquoted idioms, such as “three-eyes” or “love at second sight”. |
