A burning moth glimmers for seconds in the night.
The hungry flame engulfs its wings easily.
Ashes fall to the ground,
covering their remains in soft white ash.
Pull the trigger and turn to dust.
Alive, once, but now he stands as a dead deity.
There are legends, elaborate myths, and yet... stories are not justice.
They leave lies behind and questions unanswered.
Once, arms were braced towards the sky in prayer,
when the bells would stop tolling out of respect,
and offerings were abundant on holly grounds.
Now, shrines have been forgotten, littered with rotting fruits and crumbling incense that is decades old.
Bathed in the light of a blue moon, one stick will be lit, but that is all.
The next day, it will have been pinched to keep the stick from burning entirely away.
Memories mean no more, not in a busy world.
