It's difficult to locate this beast; some who don't belong to his clan (and even one or two who do) believe he's nothing but a story to frighten and fascinate hatchlings with. Those who have actually made his acquaintance are few in number, but they know that winning his good will is no small feat.

Kerrachlain dwells in only the murkiest, darkest places, eternally coating his camouflaged scales in moss and mud. He is as elusive as he is strange, gliding across marsh pools without causing the merest ripple in the water, and carefully weaving cattails and moss into his apparel to blend in to his surroundings. Some say that he can use the delicate butterfly frills on his head to hypnotize his prey before smothering it with heavy paws.

The dragons who have managed to find him have only coaxed him out of hiding with platters of simmered rabbit wrapped in spinach leaves or decadent tulip salads topped with jasmine-roasted acorns. Only then has the tricksy glutton emerged from the depths of his pools to play a game of riddles or listen to a song or two. There does seem to be a dragon or two who has won over his affections, but it has cost them a price--one which they don't seem inclined to share the details of.
