BIOGRAPHY
There was no saving Hyperion.
Even with the Plaguebringer's blessing, or with wards from both parents, Hyperion's blood was tainted by the Shade. With almost no magic to his name, Hyperion was as the mercy of the black in his blood, and his parents had no choice but to watch their son die in his nest. But minutes became hours, became days, became weeks, and Hyperion did not die. He did not become Shadetouched either, as much as the black scars took over his body. His parents were elated, but confused. Surely, the Shade passed down from his father should kill him? Hyperion grew up weak but alive. He had no magic, and so he was believed to be unable to hunt the Shade. But in the Carrion Canyon, where he was born, there was only so long one could go without meeting a Shade beast. Hyperion was stronger now, and with only his Runeblade he slaughtered the beast and brought home its head. And only then was he allowed to leave. While his magic is weak, it manifests in one way - Hyperion's willpower is stronger than anything. If he wants it to be so, he can make it happen. When he was young, all he wanted to do was live. Hyperion came to the Heart, far from the Wyrmwound where his parents lived, completely by accident. He felt drawn to this clan, drawn to the innocence of the Grotto at the base of the Behemoth. He was met with extreme distrust at first because of the clan's previous dealings with Plague colonies, but as he settled himself into his duties as a warrior, he was allowed to stay. Here, there was not so much of the Shade as in other regions he had traveled to, but he was determined to snuff what little lay here out before it overtook this land like it riddled his home. Percivale, once so against his integration, has now become a close friend. Though his official job title as bodyguard applies to all dragons who make their home here, he especially protects Percivale...though she may not need it. |
Personality
Despite it all, Hyperion still feels like he let his family down. He thinks he is a disgrace to his blood, and while he is clearly not, he holds a dejected air about him. He almost never looks anyone in the eye, even if they are praising him or asking for his services. Hyperion keeps mostly to himself, though underneath it all is a thoughtful and sweet drake.
He is also unerringly loyal underneath all the sadness. Once he deems someone trustworthy, they can expect his fealty for the rest of their days. They can expect a bodyguard, wanted or not, that stares down their enemies. It's Hyperion's way of saying thank you, without saying thank you. He is quiet drake, and doesn't take up much room, for he owns very few personal items. He believes very little in owning material items. He is a little vain, though, and likes to keep himself tidy. He thinks very highly of his physical appearance, even if he doesn't think much about the rest of himself. One of the very material things he owns is a mirror, and the other one is a comb. |
