Personnality

Catheire has a very nice and kind temperament. She is always calm and cheerful, always kindly helping other without demanding anything in return, always listening to others, and always trying her best to comfort them and mediate between dragons if needed, being ever the most delicate she can. In fact, she almost only has qualities.
But that makes her quite boring and veeeery easy to fool and to abuse. Shiai is a sort of protector to her about that and often scolds her when it comes to it. And she also lacks a lot of self-esteem and tends to complain about how much she is a bad friend/clanmate/teacher/whatever is the subject, looking for you to tell her how it is not true : she wants to hear the exact contrary to comfort herself. It can make her quite unbearable if you are exasperated by doormats.
She masters her special Skydancer ability and is very empathic – that’s why she is so talented to understand and deal with people, especially children. But she is a bit too sensitive and when exposed to too much powerful feelings, she feels sick.
Catheire is quite romantic, but also very picky when it comes to her future mate. He must be nice, caring, a bit mysterious, maybe hurt in his past (physically or mentally), intelligent, he must have a great project he is trying to realize, and she imagines him as Skydancer too. And that’s just a few criteria. As she reads and write a lot of romance stories, she has a kind of perfect imaginary mate – she is perfectly aware that it’s not the reality and can’t be, and that’s why she thinks she may never find a mate for her. She is perfectly fine with that : if she doesn’t find someone that matches what she expects, because it’s nearly impossible, she will never get bonded with anyone. The demanding level is insane, according to Shiai – who always refuses her numerous suitors and for that may not be the best one to give advices to her.
Catheire writes romances stories in secret (mostly at night, when nobody sees her). She often writes short stories about two characters of her favourites novels or series, but her real work is a novel involving original characters she created and that’s her most prized secret. She is a lot involved in that story and dreams to share it with someone as passionate than her, but she never dared to talk about it to anyone, so, in fact, she doesn’t really know if she missed some unsuspected geek.

Childhood

Catheire’s childhood was happy. She grew up in a Wind clan and has very good memories of this period. She developed her empathic skills during this time and discovered she wanted to be a teacher. She was a nice and very calm child. She met Shiai during a summer camp in her clan. They were in the same activity group and they shared their life passions, religion and teaching, and their dreams for the future.

Teenage age

Catheire was the teenager every parent would like to have. She never caused nor had any problems and was as kind and helpful as usual.
It’s at this period that she began to read romance and adventure books. Protected by the secret of the night, she progressively became more and more passionate by this stories – she hardly slept a few hours a night, without anyone ever noticing it, reading stories and then writing some fanfictions. As she was too shy to talk about this passion to other dragons she lived with, she lived her passion alone, secretly wishing she could meet a community who would have the same tastes as her and who would accept her for what she was. She never found it – she never searched for it.

Adulthood

She learned to be a teacher in a special class (she still is in touch with her mentor, an old wandering Guardian female who considered spreading knowledge as her Charge) as she was just a young adult. She was already spending most of her day time taking care of hatchlings to help the caretaker. However, her clan wasn’t needing a teacher, so she decided to take on a formative journey across Sornieth in order to improve her knowledge, meeting a wide diversity of new dragon to improve her understanding of the whole dragonkind and, in general, to learn new things about history, communities, world’s functioning, general culture, everything useful. A kind of personal quest to become a wiser and better teacher – her very own adventure. She was very excited to hit the road, but as she wasn’t a fighter, she feared a little bit to find herself all alone in the wild. That’s why she decided to begin by visiting nearby clans easily reachable with a daily trip, and linked by wide commercial road – where merchants were travelling, there would be guards patrols or troupes of mercenaries to protect them. She had in mind to maybe find some road companions in these clans.
She was surprised when her old friend Shiai contacted her and asked to come with her. She appreciated the Pearlcatcher priestess, but they weren’t that close. However, after meeting her, she accepted – she understood Shiai was trying to escape her clan and memories because she needed to redefine her life, and, possibly, find her lost inner peace. And after all, Catheire is very glad she accepted, because she thinks her trip wouldn’t have been half as educative without her. Besides, they became closer and despite her differencies, they managed without problems to live together during the two years and four month that their trip last.
They arrived in our clan and asked for a shelter to rest. We welcomed them and when we knew that Catheire was a teacher, as we already thought we were lacking some dragon whose job is teaching to hatchlings (and none of us was really qualified for that), we asked her if she would mind to stay with us instead of keep on with her travel. Catheire hadn’t plan to find an adoption clan – she had in mind to return in her former clan, after three, four, maybe five or ten years, and finally be a teacher here. But this was a vague idea, and she wasn’t rejecting the possibility of practising her profession in an other clan. Besides, as we also were a Wind clan, it would be easier to come back to hers to say hello. So, she gladly accepted.
Catheire is happy to be part of our clan and gets on well with everyone – she is glad to return in a Wind clan too, as she is very happy to be one of the Windsinger’s subjects. And I can add without mistaking that everyone immediately liked her. She immediately took her role very seriously and had some planning meetings with Sedewus in order to set on her future job and to agree on the objectives and the item she can use. Then, she came to see Emberyl, as they were going to take care of the young one together, to know him better and prepare their collaboration. Catheire and him immediately went along so well that if Emberyl hadn’t begin almost immediately to court Shiai, we all would have think they were going to be bonded as mates – but in fact, Emberyl and Catheire became so fast something like best friends forever that we could have bet that they knew each other in a past life.

Teacher’s Notebook

First Trial

When Catheire arrived, there wasn’t any hatchlings, but there was a lot to do with our teenagers. In fact, Tyharval, Rubyus, Hidust and Blazeshade could be seen as the main challenges of her teacher’s life. Tyharval has big issues with language, both spoken and written, as she never speaks a word, Rubyus don’t even care of school (“school, to what purpose ? I already know how to fight, to write, to count and to speak.”, he said). And Hidust and Blazeshade, refusing to be separated, show willing of learning but are used to be considerate as adults and are often doing their job, forgetting the lessons. Not to mention that Tyharval live mostly at night and Rubyus often disappears for a few hours or even days in the wild.
But Catheire handed this with patience and understanding, and managed to do huge progresses with them as the time passed, by making compromises between adapting her schedule and teaching them to respect rules. Sed and I are glad to have her : she is the one we needed.
Tyharval being the most childish of the four, Catheire spent more time with her, becoming a kind of big sister just as Emberyl is for her. Catheire loves her very much.
