Biography
Snapshot: Scarred, purchased out by her family, Demeter hides in her sense of humor, taking refuge in the absurdity of the world around her as serves her clan. Struggling to handle her trauma, and eternally grateful for her place both in the clan and at Lillith’s side as one of her most trusted advisors, Demeter has a streak of loyalty that goes deeper than bone. Wielding her mutated natural magics, the dragoness values her place in the high circle deeply, having found a profound beauty in her gifts now that she has a place where they can do real service and be valued. Background: Born into a family of farmers in a clan of the Nature flight, she was destined to be a mage nurturing the family’s crops and supporting the clan, helping provide food for the tables and larders of others. That changed as she matured, and her powers mutated. Her magic grew out of control, and soon all she touched rotted away and withered, plants died in her presence, mold grew beneath her claws. Horrified by her own power, she had little idea of what to do. Her sense of confusion was only heightened when her clan attempted to cull her in the middle of the night one fateful eve. She escaped, fleeing to the Plaguelands, but not before her face was irreparably burned, leading to a mass of scar tissue. Lillith found her in the wasteland, starving, half crazed, incoherent, and injured. She took her in, nursed her back to health as best she could, and gave her a place. Taking that place has been a long hard road for Demeter. Despite struggling with both BPD and PTSD and no small amount of culture shock moving into a new flight, Demeter has learned under Lillith’s tutelage how to harness and channel her powers; even going so far as to inflict them on larger beasts and dragons. There is a part of her that will always wonder at how easily she is accepted in the clan, the place she finds there. Though she hides that deep affection under miles of humorous, sometimes even childish, remarks. Relationships: The primary relationship in Demeter’s life is her loyalty to Lillith, and it may always be. After being chased out, nearly murdered, the other dragoness gave her a home a place, helped her know herself, saved her life. That is not something that can be forgotten or repaid. Beyond that she finds trusting others alternately too easy and too difficult, but she has formed friendships with the other members of the council, with her peers. Daily Life: Demeter spends most of her days advising Lillith, and performing services as a witch on behalf of the clan. Her gifts can earn no small amount of coin as they travel, targeting harvests of others for coin or resources the clan might require. They can also help drive up the prices they can charge for their own merchant’s goods. Goals: Perform her duties on the high council immaculately, heal some of the mental wounds left by her own clan’s betrayal. {AMAZING lore by Mystif!} "Humor is the best medicine to diseases that don't exist and problems that don't really matter." |
