Biography

Growing up in the Sunbeam Ruins under the name Sulara, her first lover was an Imperial named Nytus, who after a falling out left to join the ranks of the Lightweaver.

In her Heartbreak, she left to the Viridian Labyrinth in the hope that she could leave her broken heart back in the Sunbeam Ruins.
In the viridian Labyrinth she had three Mates; a pearlcatcher named Gareth and two spirals named Koyath and Slattern.

In the stress of her losing two of her youngest in the same way she lost Nytus, she moved to the Starfall Isles to become an archeologist in the pursuit of knowledge and changed her name to Solarium.

MOTTLED SUN
Lore: The name "Mottled Sun" speaks to more than just appearances - Pearlcatchers of this subspecies often believe the world revolves around them. Their arrogance and illusions of grandeur, however, are commonly backed up by an above average intellect. Mottled Suns often become botonists, zoologists, archaeologists, historians, or philosophers within their home of the Sunbeam ruins.

The subspecies has a very large home range, but an equally small amount of appearance variation. They frequently pair bond with other dragon species, but almost always with a mate that looks like themself. Their own appearance is often what they find attractive in potential suitors.
Bar and Daub are the standard genes, but occasionally Iridescent and Shimmer show up as a recessive trait in the population. Hatchlings born without their characteristic spots are seen as oddities, and may be either treasured or lamented depending on the culture of the parents and their own preferences.

Mottled Suns don't usually discriminate between potential mates based on breed. The real question is whether another breed would be willing to put up with them. Mottled Suns who haven't grown up with proper guidance in mixed breed clans can be socially maladjusted and obnoxious to most dragons. As a subspecies they don't have a particular opinion on any other dragon breeds, but primarily Mottled Sun clans often shun Imperials and Nocturnes. The former as unwanted children of the Lightweaver, and the latter as children of her rival the Shadowbinder.

Mottled Suns tend to love treasure, but are awful at holding onto it. They are often impulsive when it comes to money, and if given a sum of treasure will spend it on as many books, golden baubles, or desserts as they can. The particular vice is based on the individual dragon's personality and preferences.

Continued: If asked, members of the subspecies will refute criticisms of their perpetual brokeness by claiming that money really isn't important, and aren't the things with true meaning immaterial in the end anyway? However, anyone who knows one personally is aware that the Mottled Sun is just as materialistic as the next dragon, probably moreso.

Serving the Lightweaver is seen as a great honor among the subspecies. The original Mottled Suns are said to have been scholars and curators serving directly under the deity, and being invited to serve her again is the dream of many a dragon. Those that are not exalted into her service will show their respect by exploring and preserving her domain and its history. This is another reason why many become scholars, naturalists, or archaeologists.
