Born as bioluminescent as a jellyfish, Aequorea showed promise as a water mage from a very early age. His natural talents enhanced by his desire for perfection, Aequorea became an official water mage only shortly after growing into adulthood. He holds mages to high esteem, and sees himself as being "above" non-magical dragons in the kingdom. Other mages, especially the craftmage Stil, are worried with his perspective of the world, as the duty of a mage should always be to help those in need, regardless of their personal abilities, but none can convince Aequorea that this is indeed the duty of mages. He still does what is required of him for the kingdom, like helping to irrigate the greenhouses and making sea travel easier, but he rarely associates with those outside of the order of mages. He sees alchemists as charlatans pretending at magic, much to the annoyance of Rain, who is both a mage and an alchemist.
The one dragon who Aequorea can't wrap his mind around is Snowdrop. He is highly frustrated with his interest in this dragon, who hasn't a single drop of magic to her name, but he can't help his fascination. Though the mute dragon seems friendly enough with any other dragon, including mages like himself, she seems inexplicably terrified of Aequorea and he can't for the life of him figure out as to why.
