Shortly after Erlen left, Arrana found a note that he would still come back to her for a short amount of time. They had a few hatchlings, Arrana acknowledging Erlen's scars from his wounds obtained as the Beast clan soldiers came for him, and when the Beast clans came again, Arrana knew that Erlen was gone for good. They shared a few parting words and exchanged embraces, while the Beast Clan soldiers left them alone for a few minutes to say good bye to each other. Something changed in Arrana that day, something that couldn't be undone, as the loss of a long-time and very close friend does to a dragon - Arrana knew that she needed to seek Naz out, who she had been close to before Erlen, in order to keep herself from experiencing gut-wrenching sadness. Naz watched from the shadows while Arrana suffered Erlen's loss. Arrana knew that he was doing this for a long time, as everyone had known that he liked her. Naz was different than Erlen was; he was more considerate and thoughtful, and actually liked the books and scrolls that Arrana kept in the library. Arrana knew that Naz had checked out her favorite scroll so much that it had been a while since she had re-read it. Even though it was short, Arrana thought, as the scroll only took her about two hours to read in its entirety, it was the best one she had read. It was an extremely long and humorous description about possible things that exalted dragons did. Most dragons didn't bother to read this scroll because it was like so many others; there were entire genres dedicated to exalted dragons, as someone had to record down what dragons had been exalted in order to keep track of them. |

Naz." Arrana said fiercely under her breath, "it must be his doing, trying to get me to pay more attention to him." Oh well, she thought to herself, maybe I won't regret doing this. I knew it was going to happen eventually... "NAZ!" Arrana hollered. Naz's talons were making a large amount of noise on the floor, and Arrana ran over to where she thought Naz was. Naz cowered under Arrana's glare. "You were trying to get my attention, weren't you?" Arrana said, trying and failing to keep the sadness from Erlen's loss out of her voice. Naz shook his head up and down. "Well, now you're going to have to try to keep it." Arrana saw the surprised look on Naz's face when she took the battered scroll from where he was hiding it, and walked slower than her normal pace back to her desk. Arrana opened the scroll, and a note slid out of it in Naz's writing: Dear Head Librarian Arrana, I have been trying to get this to you for so many weeks that it has been agitating me constantly. I have checked out this scroll so many times you will probably not let me check it out again, and I might have to even do extra guard duty if I offended you by doing this. It is well known that I like you, and I am deeply grieving for what Erlen's loss has done to you, so I decided to give you this: -Naz, Jallem's Scout Arrana put her talons over her eyes, not wanting to believe that a black box out of no where had come out of the scroll along with the note... somehow she didn't see it. Arrana opened it, and Naz had sent her a ring. Oh, I'm in so deep. Arrana thought to herself; I have to see if he's still in the library; of course he probably never left here. Unfortunately, as Arrana looked outside - as her grief had made her forget that a major windstorm was coming in. Arrana had to buckle down all of the shelves - and do it quickly, in order to get Naz and herself into the bunker that was below the library when events like these happened. Arrana moved from each row of books and scrolls, putting chains on all of them and making sure they were safe and tight. She yelled Naz's name every other time she did this, but never found him. Not until she made certain that the last row was safe, Arrana glanced at her surroundings briefly and a shadow moved. Then Naz appeared, seemingly out of thin air, as he had a tendency to do since it was what he did for a living. "You know we should be in that bunker right about now?" Arrana said to Naz. "Jallem had the day off, and we are the only ones in here." "What bunker?" Naz asked. Right, I'm the only one who is in the library when a storm comes... Arrana thought to herself. "This way!" Arrana shouted at Naz over the noise of the wind, both of them running over in the direction that Arrana guided Naz to. They got to the bunker, the wind howling outside, along with the sound of things being ripped apart that weren't tied down tight. Arrana swore she heard a few dragons screaming outside who were caught in the storm unprepared, but decided that she could not help them. This was since she needed to protect herself and Naz, since he was currently occupying the library. Arrana also knew that she had to make certain that what was on the shelves did not be damaged, as some of those scrolls, tomes, and books were very valuable. Once Arrana set all of the locks on the door, she turned around and Naz was staring at her. "You're wearing it." Naz breathed in awe. "Why wouldn't I?" Arrana said, with melancholy that was apparent - she had failed again to sound as if she had fully recovered from Erlen's loss. However, Arrana knew that it would be at least four dominance rounds before she felt even slightly better. "You know that this place is made for only one dragon, right?" Naz said. "We don't have the supplies down here for two of us." "We'll figure it out." Arrana said. As soon as she sat leaned against the wall slightly and stopped walking, her head tilted and she fell her eyelids closing. Arrana felt her body fall forward just before it came close to smacking into the floor. The last thing she saw before she fell asleep was Naz, a concerned expression on his face.
