Varicella has one, very important job: She inoculates new members of the clan to introduce them to the endemic strains the clan brought to the Icefield with them from the Scarred Wasteland.

She does so with a unique mixture of blood from various members of the clan, and blood from her mate, Amadeus- a pureblooded offspring of two "Shed Essence" of the Lightweaver. The mixture is a proven "vaccination" that allows the newcomer to acclimate to the microbiome of the clan, and adapt without risk of death.

Varicella takes her job- and the comfort of her mate- very seriously, and she herself is a very quiet, sombre dragon with a dry, gallows humour.
