Lightseeker

Born to star spirits dwelling in the realm of dragons, most assumed he would have a connection with the grand, majestic lights of the heavens. No one anticipated that he would form bonds with sources of light much smaller and closer. Dragons who don't know him look at him askance when he starts a seemingly one-sided conversation with a burning torch, or a lamppost, or a lighthouse. He holds court among fireflies on summer evenings and debates with paper lanterns hanging in trees. All sources of light are dear to him, though he finds reflections troubling - more than once he's begun talking with the moon in a pool of water, a candle flame in a mirror, or a shining crystal visible in someone's eye before coming to the embarrassing realization that the actual light is behind or above him. Many don't believe that the lights return his greetings and answer his questions, but he isn't much troubled by the raised eyeridges and shaking heads. The lights are his children, and he cares for them.
