I can still hear your laugh, though, and each time I pass a bottle of that whiskey I know it’s yours, so I pour it out in your honor- one glass at a time- waiting for a spark that never comes.
Honeysuckle grinds beneath my teeth and I’m obsessed- holding on to the last fragments of you, a thousand other fragments from that time.
The snow settles in, and the dried flowers lose their flavor, and the whiskey is empty, and the orchids are in season all around me… but I’ve forgotten.
