Stormcaller Clan Meteorologist | Vigilante —–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–——–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–— Stormcaller ("Storm") belongs to a subspecies of pearlcatchers called Runecatchers. They are pearlcatchers blessed with extraordinary abilities thanks to their pearls amplifying the latent powers lying dormant in their runes. Stormcaller was the first Runecatcher brought into Tyna's lair, having been adopted by Lorne and Drogheda. Spectrum, the hatchling who would grow up to be his mate, was the second. She was adopted into the lair by Orion and Ragabash after Tyna suggested that having another dragon with unusual abilities might be beneficial to Stormcaller's development. The two have been nearly inseparable since they met. When they were hatchlings with newly developing powers, he called her a superhero and the two would play pretend that they were saving the world together. Now that they're older, he still believes she's a hero and pushes her to use her powers for the good of others. Storm's ability to "summon" rain and storms developed at a very early age and is strongly tied to his emotions. Fits of melancholy summon rain, happiness leads to sunshowers, and anger or anxiety summon storms increasing in intensity along with his level of agitation. This led to quite a few unexpected downpours during his hatchling years, as one would expect. As he grew older, he began studying Tai Chi and meditation techniques with Wong, to learn to control his emotions and help balance his mind. Interestingly, during naturally occurring weather phenomena, his emotions have a tendency to shift towards whichever emotion usually causes that particular weather. No one is quite sure if it's a result of conditioning or if the weather causes emotional feedback, but it does make the meditation invaluable. The ability to sense nature's state of balance or discord developed later, or at least, his awareness of it did. Gaia finds this ability most intriguing and often seeks his council, especially when the war between Nature and Plague is raging fiercely. Storm has not chosen to "invoke" his runes. He wants to - even envies his mate Spectrum for having invoked hers, however he fears that invoking his will cause even more violent storms, and worse, that he would be unable to control them. Once he "calls" weather, it does what nature wills it to do. He fears that one day he will lose his temper and create a storm that will lead to the destruction of his clan, or the endangerment of someone he cares about, and that he will be so caught up in the rush of intense emotions in him that always accompany large storms, that he won't notice or won't care until it's too late. On a smaller scale, Storm has found a very useful place with the clan's gardeners. During dry spells, he will go sit with their crops and try to summon rain to artificially help the plants until normal weather can resume its course. He is also quite good at predicting weather patterns. —–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–——–—–—–—–—–—–—–—–— |
