*Grew up in a clan where fish were scarce, and the lack of it hard on dragons who only had stomachs for seafood. He started trying to integrate other types of food together as a way to stave off hunger, thinking that if he could mix the types of vegetables and meat that were available in with the scant scraps of fish, it would silence the hungry rumbling of stomachs and help the clan.

*As his cooking abilities grew- as he learned to deal with different flavor profiles, textures, unique combinations of ingredients- he began to see the development of new recipes more as an exciting challenge than a desperate necessity. Helping others in need to keep from starving was the reason that made it worth doing, but making that food delicious became the passion that kept him satisfied and excited.

*All that sounds mild enough until it becomes clear just how dedicated he is to her goal of having access to every possible sort of ingredient. Does some rare herb only grow in a tiny, icelocked valley in the Southern Icefields, surrounded by Nochnyr and Permafrost Impalers? That's fine. He's already on her way. Some rare insect tastes like the most delicious of sweet honey roasted nuts when roasted over a fire, but it can only be caught in the thorn ringed thickets of the Tangled Wood? Also fine, he'll put that next on his list of places to go.

*The thing is, see, that fire, when applied correctly, can solve almost all problems. And he's a child of the Blacksand Annex. Magma runs in his veins. He's not going to run out of fire any time soon.

*Basically he spends half her time in a kitchen and the other half in the field, being a screaming flamethrower terror.

*Currently he is staying with the Wild Orchard clan. He'll probably be there for a while- the weird magic tampering that Orchard trees draw up through their roots and breathe in through their leaves creates bizarre side effects on the tongue unlike anything he's ever worked with before. And as long as he follows the rules he's given about only taking fruit from the trees that have been designated as 'safe for eating,' the clan is happy to see what he'll learn.

*Hopefully those 'safe for eating' varieties will keep her busy for quite a while, because if he tries to start messing with the other plants, there will be a problem.
