Ballou was originally adopted to help bring new blood into the clan. He was considered a wonderful addition with his kind heart and patient nature, but it soon became apparent why he had been abandoned in the first place. While it was obvious he was from a wind clan due to this eyes, Ballou had been less than eager to reveal his past to the clan. It became hard to ignore the constant angry winds whipping through the Ashfall Waste, as Ballou had been taken in while the clan still lived on the mainland. These winds were... odd. Melusine granted Ballou the benefit of the doubt, until his condition became inexcusable. The winds were only the start, until an elemental erupted from their clan mate.

The clan of Ballou's past was an alchemy working clan, and after melting down a few too many wind items an angry elemental tormented the clan. They used a hatchling to contain the being's power, trapping it in them in the hopes it would be tamed as their magic training took effect. Sadly, that's not what happened. In the end, they left Ballou to his own devices and barely mature enough to survive. He was then picked up by Melusine and taken in, but for fear he would be sent away he hid his condition

It took many years of practice and struggle, but Ballou overcame the elemental and made peace with it. He now uses its power to help the clan's needs, while compromising with its want to travel and see the world on his own time. An emotional episode can threaten the hold Ballou has earned, but in the end the storm blows over and the winds settle.
