Steven is the young prodigee of the small group dubbed "The Crystal Gems", taking the place of his deceased mother. He never met her as she died during his birth, but he feels the expectations for him to be just like her weighing on his shoulders. He tries his very best to keep the mood light and dragons laughing, but more often than not he's scared he'll mess up in a way that can't be fixed.

He doesn't want to hurt anyone and has the biggest heart of any living dragon, although this over-empathy has caused more than its fair share of terrible mistakes. It does do good, however, when it comes to winning over gems like Lapis and Peridot onto the side of the Crystal Gems. He helps dragons through their tough times and tries to keep them happy and safe.

Steven was hatched to Rose Quartz and Greg Universe, raised by him living parent as well as the Crystal Gems: Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. He moved in with the latter once he was old enough to accompany them on missions to retreive Shade-corrupted gems and border patrols,
proving his worth over time. His silly, juvenile nature because pushed to the side once things started to get serious- Homeworld gems suddenly appearing within the Shrieking Wilds, the revelation of the soon to awaken Emperor known as the Cluster, and the Diamonds hot on Steven's tail.

Steven learned what his mother did to envoke the rage of Homeworld's leaders, and became more and more uncertain if he could fill her place. She was able to kill, he's not. He'd been brought up hearing how great and wonderful she was, but how could she be when she imprisoned one of her most loyal followers for suggesting killing a Diamond, then turned around and killed Pink Diamond? He just doesn't understand.

~ Interests ~
Steven has a soft spot for games, music and doodling. He loves the familiars of the clan with all his heart, (his favorite being Lion, a pink petalmane floron).

He also helps out in gardening, sometimes using the magic in his saliva to heal and animate plants. One example of such a thing is Pumpkin, who he brought to life after seeing Lapis and Peridot lament about not being able to have hatchlings of their own.
