______ Anybody who has met Esmeralda has been struck by her intense presence. Her strong and fierce looks are only matched (if not outshined) by her strong personality. Esmeralda is vibrant and loud, she takes what she wants, discards what she doesn't, and destroys any who dare oppose her. But to understand Esmeralda's strong personality one must understand her backstory, something that she herself has trouble grasping

______ Esmeralda's earliest memories rarely feel like her own, and oftentimes she mistakes them for silly dreams or made-up stories. Vision's of her past life dance outside her reach, glimpses of a simpler time in her life. She was young and small, living in a small clan of guardians with her small family, she can't quite remember their names or their faces, she's not even sure if those dragons are her family or not.

______ She couldn't remember why or when, but she remembers water. Water always played a large part in her life, even when she was young. She and her mother(?) where the clan's priests, that she remembers well. They were called 'Wave reciters' and they would read the sea and the waves for signs, tales, and glimpses of the future and past. She would learn things from the coiling waves, and the water would learn things from her in turn.

______ She also remembers pain, excruciating pain she was tasked with enduring regularly. She can't remember why, but she knows that only she had to suffer. No other Wave reciter was put through the tests she was, but she just can't remember why. In a recurring dream, she sees herself perched upon a tall stone, in the eye of a raging storm. Despite her best efforts, she can never tell if she wanted to escape, or if she wanted to fall into the roaring waves below.

______ Whatever her motives were, Esmeralda found herself falling from the rock and into the hungry maw of the raging sea. Quickly sinking into the very bottom of the water, she had already accepted her fate and allowed the sea to claim her. But to her surprise and dismay, she did not die. Excruciating pain rippled through her entire body over and over, but it was nothing compared to what she had experienced in the claws of the rest of the Wave reciters. Esmeralda only opened her mouth and laughed as her body contorted and changed, both inside and outside.

______ When she reemerged she was larger, stronger, ruthless. She became one with the sea, no longer able to tell where it ended and she began. Terrorizing clans with her imposing presence and overwhelming force, she found her home when she attacked a wayward Guardian, unaware that she was a Warmother, battle-worn and strong enough to hold her own against Esmeralda. The match resulted in a tie between the two, and Lillypad offered her a place in the clan, intrigued by the offer, Esmeralda quickly decided to join.
