༻HISTORY Shadows swirled around him. Tsubaki rolled her eyes when he shrank back, uncertain. “You’re a wimp.” she turned away, continuing on the path. “I’m older than you!” he protested. Tsubaki snorted. “Sure, but only barely.” It had been his sister’s idea to leave. She was bored and wanted adventure, and, well, he had to come with. If he had stayed behind, he would have told their parents, and she would have been tracked down and grounded within a day. The scent of saltwater carried in on the billowing breeze, promising that they would soon encounter the Sea of a Thousand Currents, home to strangely aquatic dragons who swam and played in the waters all day, rarely coming out to dry off. “We’ll reach the Tsunami Flats in twenty minutes.” Tsubaki warned Konekomaru. “No way are we that close!” Tsubaki was smug but didn’t say anything when, twenty minutes later, they reached a mass of slippery rock and quiet tide pools. They picked their way through, following the region to the very border. Konekomaru was exhausted, but it was too late to turn back now, so they entered the Windsinger’s territory. The air tugged at their coats, coaxing them to slow down, drying their eyes. Tsubaki was unfazed. Her brother was tired of her being so calm. He tipped his head to the side and wished a gust would come around and knock her off her feet. That’d show her. As was wanted, a gust came, and she tumbled to the ground, exasperated. Konekomaru bit his lip to keep from laughing, and, when he could not contain his smile, turned and kept walking. The mighty expanse of the Southern Icefield extended as far as the eye could see from the shore of the Windswept Plateau. The waters started warm and aquamarine, a gentle breeze lapping waves onto the sand. Farther out, ice grew in thick floes, and the water was navy and frigid. Snow fell from the sky. It was beautiful. ༻PERSONALITY Konekomaru is a little bit bitter regarding his sister, not that he’d ever admit it. It’s hard growing up in the shadow of your younger sister. She’s bright, bold, adventurous, ruthless. He is decidedly not those things. He discovered his magical talents at a young age. He may seem quiet and boring, with a dry wit that can make him come across as standoffish or snooty, but he cares for the members of his clan. Of course, if they knew he was behind all those pranks… They might exile him, or they might see that he has an entertaining personality and powerful abilities that just need more training and support to hone. Those of the clan that are kind to him are quick to discover that he has a kind soul, and is eager to help when asked. ༻MAGIC ~~ |
