Biography

MARINA
She/Her | Fisherman
5iXiC8z.png
Overflowing Fishbasket Fluted Seashell Fishing Net

Marina is the clans fisherman, collecting seafood for the food stores. She is a rather closed off dragon, though she is close with a select few. She enjoys the clans relaxed atmosphere, and the slow paced work of her job.

An ex gladiator, Marina was groomed for the role from a young age, and then sold off to the coliseum. She was not allowed to leave. The role wore heavily on her; fighting for her life made her untrusting, aggressive, and isolated. The guilt almost destroyed her. Eventually, she was able to flee. She left, searching for a quiet home, for peace. While traveling she found herself drawn to the Drakewoods. The heavy magic seemed to call out to her, promising a chance to heal. She found the clan, and was welcomed.

Despite Marina's best efforts, the coliseum still affects her. She has poor, stunted social skills, and she still struggles with her temper and aggressive behaviors. She is rather jumpy and untrusting; dragons must take care not to startle her. At heart, she's a good dragon. She has mellowed considerably during her time in the clan, and she continues to heal from her traumas. She tries her best to be kind to others, she's seen enough cruelty in her life. However, she is very blunt, and can come off as rude. She's found a hobby making elaborate lures. Creating art delights her, and she surrounds herself in it. The den she shares with Hemoglobin is covered in artwork.

Marina is never found without her trident. Though it helps with taking down larger fish, it is also a memento from her past; she feels unsafe without a weapon on her at all times.

Her relationship with Hemoglobin is unsurprising to anyone familiar with the two. The two are incredibly close. Hemoglobin had visited Marina during her first night in the clan, asking how she was, and offering support. It was the first kindness Marina could remember. Though sarcastic, Hemoglobin means well, something Marina admires. Hemoglobin became a friend, a confidant, and eventually, a mate. Marina has no difficulty understanding Hemoglobin. Her life in the coliseum required her to be fluent in common draconic, and Hemoglobin was raised with non-fae species, leading her to be rather expressive. Marina finds herself delighting in Hemoglobin's jokes and quips, the coatl has quite the sense of humor. Marina finds herself feeling at ease with her mate, she was the first dragon she was able to trust completely. The two support each other. Marina is incredibly thankful for the tight bond she shares with her mate, and the feeling is mutual.
